Sorry for the crappy image quality. You have no idea how far back I had to dig to find this memory. I'll tell you though: all the way back to 7th grade. That's right, major flashback here. Should we call this #SnapbackSunday? I think yes.
Anyways, don't let the beautiful sky and fluffy clouds fool you. It was not a warm summer day as it may seem; it was a scorching, blistering, burning summer day where all I wanted to do was find a freezer and inhabit it for a while.
I will attribute the heat and the fact that I was in 7th grade to the reason that I didn't really enjoy this particular visit. Sure, it was absolutely gorgeous and historical - but c'mon, it was too stinking hot to be sitting on the front steps posing for about 3,892,219 pictures. That may be an exaggeration, but it sure didn't seem like it at the time.
Once inside the capital building, soaking in the A/C, I enjoyed myself again and dove into the history of one of the most important places in America.

Ever been to D.C.? What was your favorite monument?
Actually, I was there in October. I have to say that was my favorite time to visit. The leaves on the trees burst with beautiful reds, yellows, and oranges. If the Lincoln Memorial wasn't so packed, that would be my favorite.
ReplyDeleteVisiting in either the spring or fall both seem really ideal and beautiful. I really liked the Lincoln Memorial also, but I think that the Washington Monument was my favorite. I just wished that we could have climbed up to the top!
